O2 and Vodafone Germany HTC HD7 A Big Hit
Well now it would appear that Microsoft has a hit on their hands with their new operating system, Windows Phone 7, well at least in Europe, Germany to be precise, and the HTC HD7 smartphone in particular.
According to an article over on Mobile Crunch by Simon Chester, and by way of WMPoweruser, O2 Germany is stating that they have sold out of their first consignment of HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7 handsets due to “higher than expected” demand for the device and claiming sales are in the “5-figure range,” with somewhere aroung the 80,000 mark being bandied about.
Furthermore, Vodafone Germany is also stating that they have pre-orders for the HTC HD7 handset that are “higher than expected,” and have thus ordered more stock of the HTC HD7.
Other Windows Phone 7 devices are also doing well in Germany with German Telecom saying they have “strong pre-orders” for both the HTC 7 Mozart and the Samsung Omnia 7, while E-Plus has sated that they expect to increase their stock of the LG Optimus 7 in mid November due to the operating system receiving a “very positive response.”
So it would appear that Microsoft and Windows Phone 7 is highly sought after in Germany, which is a big boon for Microsoft, so one wonders if WP7 is doing just as well elsewhere.
