If you visit Google search you will see that its logo today is celebrating Robert Louis Stevenson 160th birthday and that prompted us to find one of the best iPhone apps that only cost £0.59 ($0.99), not bad considering you get 7 of his amazing books.

The Special Robert Louis Stevenson Library app contains 7 of his most popular books that includes Kidnapped, Black Arrow, Treasure Island, Prince Otto a Romance, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Master of Ballantrae and David Balfour the Second Part to Kidnapped.

Robert Louis Balfour Stevenson was born 13 November 1850 and died 3 December 1894 and if he was alive today he would have been 160 years old, the Scottish novelist, poet, essayist and travel writer has written some amazing books and this app provides his best.

  1. While I think the app you referenced is really great if you want to just read the book, I must say there's a brand new one today that allows you to completely experience it with a modern 3D feel built into the original classic images.

    To create Treasure Island I got to really embrace the book because we were able to restore images from antique copies of Treasure Island with permission from the University of MN Children’s Literature Archives. I don't know if I'll get my kids to play authors, but the images are now viewed through a completely modern 3D Pop-up that they can control, and I hope it along with the amazing writing of Robert Louis Stevenson will get them engaged.
